This Year’s Addition: An Expert Review of the Awards Entries Provided By Usability 24/7

This year, the finalists for the Best Online User Experience in B2B and B2C category of the Digital Experience Awards (DXA) are in for an exciting new bonus.

They’ll be receiving independent feedback from an official DXA partner and user experience expert, Usability 24/7. What they aim to do is use their unique expert review methodology to evaluate websites and apps against nearly 50 criteria, providing analysis, best practice recommendations for improvement and a UX index score.

The expert review methodology that they’ll be utilizing for the Digital Experience Awards entries sits alongside usability testing and online usability research, which is one of the key methodologies used.
Now, the expert review methodology was developed from the usability core principles that were established when Usability24/7 was founded.

The expert review methodology that they’ll be utilizing for the Digital Experience Awards entries sits alongside usability testing and online usability research, which is one of the key methodologies used.

Now, the expert review methodology was developed from the usability core principles that were established when Usability24/7 was founded.

Five areas were identified as defining the experience of the majority of digital products:

  • Navigation
  • Content
  • Function
  • Presentation
  • Feedback

Each of these was expanded in order for the expert review methodology to cover nearly 50 individual criteria that is together described as a digital experience. The methodology will be applied to the main user’s journey or the process contained within the submission for the Best Online User Experience for each entrant.

Finalists will receive a short report that will set out the overall position of their website against the five areas of navigation, content, function, presentation and feedback.

They will be able to “drill” into each area and see just how many usability issues exist in each area and what the severity of those issue is. Finalists will also be able to read about the individual issues and recommends in order to mitigate usability issues based on best practice, taking into account the experience of Usability24/7’s senior experts.

But what makes this bonus truly amazing is that the finalists will be able to use these expert review reports for their own improvement, specifically the usability of the website they have developed or as a benchmark against future changes.

Usability24/7 is a usability specialist agency that was founded by industry veteran Paul Blunden.
